A Chair Is Not Just A Chair

Last night I had dinner with a family that I just met. Ive been friends with a lady from choir for about 6 months and she invited me for dinner. They were eating at the kitchen table and there were 5 of us all together. Another couple, the couple and me. Because my friend had seated herself and so had the other couple, I didn't know where to sit (head of the table or next to my friend). This stuff stresses me out. They kept saying sit down, but I couldn't until I thought bugger it, Ill just confess that I don't know where to sit. So I said "Can you tell me where to sit because I don't really know where I'm supposed to sit. Lucky my friend said here and started patting the chair next to her. Whew.... but then everything went quiet and so I felt I had to say something about why... so I just said "head of the table and all that stuff".... then everyone looked at each other and starting saying... its not like that here. Well obviously it is like that there because the couple opposite sat together.

Sounds like making a mountain out of a mole hill but its really hard being friends with couples.

I had a nice time tho and the food was nutritious and delicious.
