Water Exhibition

Yesterday I went to this exhibition thinking it would only take and hour to explore. 3 hours later I left not being able to read every piece of text. I asked the display minders if I could take photos because I cant read fast and they said well ummm um, how about we just go to the next pod and we wont see anything. They were great. When you walk in you have to pass through a thin stream of mist that is bright blue with the word water in various languages and its confronting. The brain doesn't know quite what to do with it. Here are some photos and quotes from that exhibition.
"And Godde sends down water from the skies giving life thereby to the earth after it had been lifeless." Quran
"The stone in the water does not comprehend how parched the hill is" Traditional West African Saying
"Sometimes men need the wind most, at other times water from the sky, rainy descendants of the cloud...... Greek Poet Pindar
"The highest good is like water. Water gives life to the ten thousand things and does not strive. It flows in places men reject and so it is like to TAO" The Tao
"All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place whence rivers come, tither they return again." Bible
"The quality of mercy is not strain'd, it droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven." Shakespeare

Unconsious Mind Answers
This weeks been very draining and I have lost my acting arrangements due to where the focus of the teams future work. They want a project manager not an admin person for the job. I'm hurt because my goal is to get the the APS6 level before retirement and this may be just a set back but all the same my self esteems is taking a dive. I walked home from work bawling tonight (pathetic) then had a shower and threw myself into bed and meditated for an hour. Right at the start I asked my unconscious mind to give me a symbol of what I need right now.... nothing then, about a minute later I jerked (like when you are dozing off) violently and a mass of silver stars exploded one behind the other. Then I asked "what else do I need?" Then a brown face appeared with brown hair hanging over the left eye, it wasn't me. I don't know who it is but who ever it is I bloody well need them. I'm thinking silver stars my love for Godde. I'm still working on the person and the analysis of these visuals. Amazingly I have been able to control my eating and exercise right through the week and feel pretty good about that.
Gold Fever

Sister and I were talking last night and I happened to say I might start my artist resume because I'm entering again this year in the Canberra Outdoor Art Exhibition and need to keep track of things in case I want to ask for a grant to exhibit one day. This led to the statement that I am going to try to find a copy of the Australian Photography Magazine that my winning entry was in in the late 70s. This may be possible at the National Library. We started talking about that period in my life and how I came to take the photo of the paw paw leaf that won. Dad and I used to go prospecting for gold and we would bring great hunks of river sand and rock home and pan away for hours under the paw paw trees while Simmone and mum were inside occupied with girls activities. I commented that I don't think Mum and Dad knew what to do with me at 17 & 18 because I was basically a home body with not many friends, hence the mining licence. Simmone pipes up and says "yeah, they probably thought they could push you down a hole" and we both started laughing and then I added my sisters famous line " well that's what happens when you were conceived at the dump". Only sisters can understand the humour in this.

Scotts Quality Drinks - Katherine
This lolly water bottle top was used in my grandparents soft drink family in Katherine in the 1950's. Looking at the phone number and smiling. I remember my best friends phone number was 491. Its funny what you remember because she or her sister can not remember that number at all. The lolly water factory was a wonderland for us kids because of all the machinery, the exploding bottles and THE SYRUP room with all those delicious smell. Nanna walking around with a sweat rag around her neck to stop it from dripping on her recipes and in the mixes. It was a joy to go to the bakery and proudly look at all the coloured lolly water displayed there, although sometimes there would be frogs, cockroaches and flys inside the capped bottle, which even I knew was a bit embarrassing. Oh yeah, and I really had a strange habit of putting my fingers and arms in holes and between things and one day I put my arm in between the counters at the bakery and couldn't get it out. With all the tugging the adults were doing and my screaming the whole time made it swell and they had to call some men in to shift the counters away from my arm. ahhh the good old days. Luvin you up Gwen and Hen xxxx

Quiet Day

I spent the morning at a retreat with the Anglicans. It was so nice that the woman priest came out to welcome me when she saw me coming. Today's topic was Wilderness and Ive come to the realization that my wilderness is the conscious mind and that I am really at home in my unconscious mind. Home.... where I am safe.......where I begin

Computer

Today I saw a co-worker carrying in a PC tower into work. Shes 6 months pregnant. I asked her if I could carry it for her and she said no and the told me she had married an abusive man who had recently left her and that he had taken 3 things she values and wants back. So she took his computer tower to store at work until she gets them back. I'm intrigued because about 18 months ago she had a box of human bones at work, that looked like they belonged to some medical school. .........

Girls With Ribbons
I'm loving this new trend where girls are allowed to have curly or wavy hair and to have colours other than blond. Topped off by a cute little ribbon in their messy way of wearing long hair these days. And Ive noticed a few girls with a long thick plait over one sholder which is cool as well.

Rice And Fresh Apple

I'm still struggling with this tummy bug, so finally when to the doctor yesterday, Dr Fedderoff. When I first saw her I was doubtful that she would be able to give me advice that I didn't already know. Assumptions... mmm. I told her my symptoms and asked for a certificate for the days off that I had and also for another two days. She surprised me by suggesting I try boiled short grain rice with freshly grated uncooked apple on top. She gave me a prescription for antibiotics to take after two days if the rice an apples don't work. I tried the recipe this morning and its delicious and I have now found a nice breakfast food. You just know when you swallow it that is good for your gut. Ive had to give up bread because of yeast intolerance so went to cereals, but the dairy really effects my sinuses. Luv this old girl and going to send her a card thanking her for introducing me to a new breakfast food and tummy bug fix.

Rains Stopped

We've had solid rain for a couple of days and I took the chance to put my house plants outside. Man they zing up in the rain. Had a surprise visit from Fr Murphy on his way back to Sydney. We went to see Starry Night at the National Gallery. He had a good view above the crowds. I'm pretty sure Ive got everything for the exhibition ready now and going to include a NT mix of Haiku Poems to sell as well. Its been difficult trying to navigate the Big W photo lab to get them to look how I would like, but getting there now. Niece came equal first with another girl in Rookie Of The Year and two other major prizes. I'm so proud of her.

Day Off

Due to a tummy upset.
Heres my email to my boss
Much the same as yesterday, continuing with strong southerly winds sustained at 10kph with gusts of 20kph occasionally, scattered showers and intermittent thunder storms though easing to just light wind by the weekend. That's why I wont be at work today guys....
Was good for the creativity as I wrote 11 Haiku Poems.

Brooches

Ive been interested in Madeleine Albright's Brooches (300) that are on display in USA
I like this sheilas mind in that she used to wear pins to communicate to the world around her.
Some quotes about the display...
"She started acquiring pins because of their inherent messages, their whimsical and pictorial quality," said David Revere McFadden, the museum's chief curator. "It's not about jewels and gems, it's about jewelry as a communication device."
"It's a very gentle way of saying to whomever she is speaking to: 'Listen carefully because I'm kind of telling you where I think this conversation is going,'" he said.
"When she thought negotiations would likely go well, she would wear a balloon pin. Another pin, made of stainless steel, shows the head of Lady Liberty with two watch faces for eyes, one of which is upside down. The pin allows both her and others to check the time."
Love this old dame.
