I saw my lady weep,
And Sorrow proud to be advanced so,
In those fair eyes where all perfections keep,
Her face was full of woe;
But such a woe (believe me) as wins more hearts,
Than Mirth can do with her enticing parts.
Sorrow was there made fair,
And Passion wise, tears a delightful thing,
Silence beyond all speech a wisdom rare,
She made her sighs to sing,
And all things with so sweet a sadness move,
As made my heart at once both grieve and love.
O fairer than aught else,
The world can show, leave off in time to grieve,
Enough, enough, your joyful looks excels,
Tears kills the heart.
O strive not to be excellent in woe,
Which only breeds your beauty's overthrow.
By John Dowland, Elizabethan Lutist and Composer, strongly infulenced by the Melencoly of the time.
Like I am today..... Home, sick with a Menieres attack. Concerned that my hearing is fading fast. Scared of the isolation deafness brings. Pathetic!

Ron - you are not pathetic. You are a wonderful person that I admire. You have learnt to count all your blessings and that is honourable. Bad days happen to us all but your light shines to a beacon throughout every say moment. Take care and remember if things are to bad many people love you and we are all here for you. Moo
I wondered where you were today! As someone who was born with hereditary deafness, we need to accept the things we cannot change and feel blessed for the gifts we have. Keep your chin up girl...there's still lots of life (and hearing) left in you yet!!
