Best Dad

Flew back to Darwin today. Hes such a determined person and always upbeat. I told him that I need the sun to stay mentally healthy and he said he understood that. This is a first for us because he never acknowledges depression or anything negative. I guess its worked for him all his life, so why change.

"DEPRESSION is not a sign of weakness, it is a sign that you have been trying to be strong for too long." Unknown

Of all the words about this subject, I find these the most satisfying.

Roadshow

Just back from the roadshow, where the Scotts got a chance to bond with their DNA. Stories shared, new words invented picken charmer (instead of chicken palmagama) salt in the hair and nostrils from sitting by the sea. I love time with my family.

Heres dad sunbaking in his depths of winter collection at Bonny Hills Beach.

Hamish @ 13

This boy has the funniest sense of humour. I asked him what Colin's (dog) favorite song was and he said "who let the dogs out", as quick as a flash.

The picy with the clock was a crack up because he negotiated that now he is a teenager he needs another 1/2 hour extra time to stay up and 9:30pm was agreed. At 9:20pm he come and said good night to everyone because he was too tired and couldn't stay up to 9:30 so we gave him heaps and he tootled off about 9:45pm to bed.

He also talked me into driving him to Bunnings to get this silver pipe for a blow gun which his friend Curtis invented with tiny plastic thumb tak darts. Curtis father told him that if he hurts any one with the darts, hes going to have to take 100 of them in the arse. It nearly made my eyes water just hearing that.
Here are some pic's from the day, including the assembly of the trampoline by Gpa and me and the finished blanket I crocheted for him.

Dual Flush

This is a new take on those words. You can find this arrangement at all culturally sensitive new buildings. We are very inclusive in Canberra. This is the family powder room. Its the cutest little shitter Ive ever seen.

Letters

I love getting letters especially if they contain pictures as well. When I received this one recently from best niece I bawled coz she wrote the name she usually calls me and the stamp was a girl guide stamp, which she signed up to as soon as she was old enough to be accepted. Such a cute little Brownie....

Stompin Bells

Ive made 3 pairs of these fun kiddy cuffs. The three blokes at work have all got kids that have just started walking and I reckon if I was a kid Id like a pair of these to learn to walk in.
Actually, I might make myself a pair as well. That way I can wonder who else is stompin around the lounge room with me....

Bungendore

I didn't realise how much I missed having soft curtains until I woke up to this sight on my 3 day residential training course. I'm now considering getting rid of the blinds in my bedroom for soft curtains. The course was life changing and I learned so much about myself. Really raised my self esteem.

Armistice Day Is Coming

This year at work they are putting up posters for Remembrance Day and also doing a 5 minute spiel over the loud speaker to all our buildings. I love this idea, paying respects and also in 1966 my Irish grandfather dies and I always remember him with love.

Inaugral Monoprint

After attending Jo Holliers demonstration a couple of weeks ago, I finally managed to try this technique out today at artgroup. I was pretty excited with the results and so were the girls. What comes to mind is that this technique has to be in a dreamy room to look good. Also learning curve for next time... make sure I reverse the painting before painting it on to plastic.

Shoosh Please

"It's important to remember that children take all of childhood to grow – to learn how to think, play, learn, process information, behave appropriately – manage their lives, dress themselves, find their way home and learn who they are. We cannot rush this vital development and nor should we as it is precious. Childhood cannot be hurried or children can develop poor stress regulating systems that continue right through life."
