Bucket List

I love the idea of the bucket list. Things I want to do before I leave earth. So far this year I have ticked off

Initating an exhibition
Sold my first painting
Sold my poems
Sold my photos
Thanked a good number of people who have been so kind to me in my life
Cut loose some people who I feel bad around
Extingished Facebook for good
Have a saving plan that I am sticking too

And tonight, a Chrism Mass. I had goosebumps many times through ceremony and enjoyed it emensley. Actually it was very confronting when the head man breathed 3 times on the oil, felt really tribal.

Cute Dolls

My Friend

I walked out onto my veranda this evening and instantly felt the need to look up. Old fat cheeks is back again. I feel so happy when that happens to me and I start smiling and buzzing with good energy. Ive really only started to adore the moon in the last 3 years. Its seems to be getting stronger as I age. Maybe its because the moon is not so harsh on my eyes as the sun. The more I think on it, its more than just the light. It calls me gently. I run from the harsh sun. Maybe its the cycles. Need to ponder this more.

Soft moon shine, harsh street light trying to imitate the joys of nature.

Adys 21st

This boy is such a good man. Hes got a big soft heart. Hes not afraid to have it broken. Hes got friends of all ages and hes a good stabling influence on his young friends who get a bit silly at times. I know he really loves me by his gentle actions towards me.
When I left the party, dads car was covered in toilet paper, which made me laugh out loud.
The beer bong was the thing that captured my imagination. Luckily I wasn't called to take part in all that because someone would have been crying.

Exhibition Reflections

Having flash backs about the trip and started laughing that Mark had to go to the bottle O for beer because quite a number of MEN turned up to the exhibition. They were not too keen on the bubbles and wine. It was like an emergency situation and when Mark sprinted across the grass to the esky with a carton on his shoulder, all eyes were pinned on him. And might I say, we love having MEN at our do's. Speaking of MEN, bruz Scattini showed me this cutest little burrowing frog, I cant get the little critters face out of my head. oh, I feel a painting coming on.
Please note the lady Jodi Mary Kylie and Carmel Therese in the crowd.
The picture of the lady in the pink singlet is of Toni Tapp Coutts, who purchased the kids.
And Bonnie who opened the show.

Renaissance Exhibition

mmm, total success for the three of us. Amazingly I sold my first piece of art for $1000.00 trying to top that is going to be interesting to say the least. Loyal followers came from Darwin. Really appreciated that is the best validation. Local loyalty specialists were also on hand with food, hospitality, good vibes and laughs. One painting that did a swan dive to the floor 3 times still sold. Leigh is taking the hands on approach (piccy) to make sure that painting stays put. Dad was chuffed when someone thought he was our brother. I might add he look very very smart and young.
Thank you Thank you so much for your support. You guys ROCK!
The brooches and hair clips raised $240.oo for the Hamlin Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia, which was awesome considering it was take something and put a donation in the jar. I only brought 11 home with me.

Garlands

Stumbled across this idea tonight. I think my art is taking another turn. If I wasn't so tired from packing up my exhibition pieces, I would sit up and create one. Never mind, garlands are small to carry and I might do some while I'm holidaying. Now that will be FUN.

Sun or Moon?

Todays activities
1. Still trying to work out if this is the sun or the moon at 8am this morning.
2. Sometimes you have to enter exhibitions so you build up a list of things that can go wrong.
3. Dont yarn bomb with sewing thread that has lots of tangly bits. Although it was a good adrenalin rush.
4. Hummus is fantastic.

2nd and 3rd Tag

Tonight I snuck out and decorated the little tree at the front of the apartments. Because its autumn I have put some rusty coloured tags there. Ill check them tomorrow and see if they look any good in daylight and take some piccys. This is fun. Here is a blurb about yarn bombers I found on the net by Keith Lyons (http://keithlyons.wordpress.com/2009/12/30/yarn-bombing-a-christmas-treat/)

# We anonymously promote knitting as adventure.
# We aim to soften the edges of an otherwise cruel harsh environment.
# We juxtapose vandalism with the non-threatening nature of knitting.
# We aim to readdress the nature of graffiti with a nonpermanent, nondestructive cosy medium.
# If you don’t like it just unpick it.
# We are a non-discriminating collective.
# We aim to recruit members to tag on an international scale.
# Actively contributing to a more positive type of global warming.
The manifesto concludes with the questions “Do you have too much responsibility in your life? Do you yearn for something pointless?” The manifesto suggests that if the answer is ‘yes’ then join the movement and become an outlaw knitter.
Some guerilla knitting appeared near my office at the University of Canberra and my response was in harmony with Mandy and Leanne’s introductory chapter:
Yarn bombing can be political, it can be heart-warming, and it can be funny, Most of all, yarn graffiti is unexpected, and it resonates with almost everyone who encounters it.

Yarn Bombing

Last night I completed my inaugral tag. I snuck out about 9pm and sewed it to a pole. A few cars went past and I felt the trill of being a street artist. Laugh, feeling like you are doing something naughty with a peice of crocheting has added a bit of zing to life. Here is a before piccy and an after of the installation.
