Funky Bag

This is my friends new bag. The bottom of the bag is in the shape of a shoe. Its so funny and impractical. It really tickled my fancy with its uniqueness.

Interview - Two

Well yesterdays interview went way better this time. I had previously written stuff that I have since removed from this site as I realised that it was all negative. I need to keep it in the green if I'm going to get over this fear of interviews.

While I'm writing this Jens sitting on my lap, smelling of Doggy Cologne. I don't think she wants to face the day as she very doughy.

Apartment

Took a trip over to the apartment today to talk fans. I also found out that the whole place is painted Grand Piano Half Strength, which is a very subtle beige. I really like it.
After seeing the bathroom with the ceiling painted, I am feeling happier about it and yes, I like it too.
I'm very quickly falling in love with this space. Please note that the toilet seat is up. Typical blokes.

New Grill

Yesterday I had a crown put on my tooth. Cost me $1200. Im thinking if I get them all done now it will cost me about $45k, but is nothing compared to what I will make hiring them out in the nursing home in 2030...

PS: The temporary crown fell off late this arvo, while I was eating soft liquorise. This now means I go to my interview in the morning with a mouth full of black stumps.....
Pic on the way to Woden today.

First Pair of Socks Completed.

The first sock took me 4 weeks to complete and the second one took 6 days. Ive learned through this, as long as you do exactly what the pattern says, with out trying to analyse how it will look, it will turn out fine.

Saturdays Portrait

Totally exhausted myself being a good house maiden over the weekend.

The way my teeth are cracking, I'll have a bush fire smile by Christmas and have to go and live in Queenbeyan.

Ted Hughes Poem - The Modest Proposal

There is no better way to know us,
Than as two wolves, come separately to a wood.
Now neither's able to sleep-even at a distance
Distracted by the soft competing pulse
Of the other;
Neither can make die
The painful burning of the coal in its heart
Till the other's body and the whole wood are its own.
Then it might sob contentment toward the moon.

Speakin of dogs, this sign confronted me at home recently. I was nearly scared to go inside.

African Sanctus

Here I go again, trying to sing Latin and this time its going to be with an African influence. I'm loving the timing, the drumming and the spirit of it all. No chance of getting dumped this time I'm told and I have ordered a copy of the work to play in my car for the next 5 months, so I wont need my book for words.

Apparently the composer David Fanshawe, from England will be attending so now I have to start practicing how to say Fanshawe, so I don't make a foolio of myself when I start dropping his name.
The conductor is Judy someone. At first, I was confronted with her officious manner and the fact that she wasnt acting her age (shes, probably late 50s) I was thinking, to myself, how dare she... why isnt she sitting in front of a tv and chilling out? By the end of the meeting, I was totally in awe of her talent, energy and organisational skills. Totally impressed and excited now.

Daves theme in life is one world one music. Got to go...starting the beading now.

Milk Run

Had a really funny conversation in a lift today. A guy got in with a trolley and hit 2 buttons and I had hit the third, it was just the two of us. I said to him "doing a milk run are we?". He looked quite frightened and said what do you mean "Milk Run", gruff like, I said well we will be stopping on every floor... "oh" he reckons and starts to laugh. Then he told me what was running through his mind, apparently he does a milk run before work in the mornings to make extra money and wondered how I knew that he did a milk run. We both were doubled over laughing.
Same leaf, different day......

Leaf

I photographed this leaf on our walk and digitally enhanced it.

My boss says I should not be in a processing job and that I should get into graphics or publications as thats where my creativity can be used more.

If money was no issue then I would probably be playing all day in Art and Craft with other people, but for the moment I am still looking for people who would like to do arty stuff on weekends on a regular basis.

Had a thought now. A blog that others can post to as well with their best photo for the week would be fun. Would any one be interested?

Scenic Route

Jen and I went for a small walk today, coz we wanted to be alone.

Footprints are very emotive things. One of the hardest things I had to do was throw a pair of slippers out that had my mothers imprint of her foot inside. The other was washing her dressing gown that had her smell. It took me about 6 months to be able to do it and every time I walked past it I could smell her which gave me some comfort.

Madonnas Quote

Had a few enquiries from regular readers of my blog. They ask me am I worried about what people might do and think about what I write. Straight away Madonnas quote came to mind "Everyone is entitled to my opinion"... its funny on one hand and something we all should aspire to on the other, as it might indicate that heaven has arrived and we don't have to fear what people might do to us if we don't agree with the latest view of the world. Transparency can be Holy, and I need to ponder this concept more. Maybe I will change the can be, to is.

Blogs can also be set to private so only poeple you allow, can read it.

Thursdays Self Portrait

This is coz, I'm feeling 1/2 the girl I used to be.
But there's something about only getting half the picture that fires up my imagination. Might be coz of the dyslexia or that I can only handle so much reality.
Well its Revs 40th today, Happy Birthday!, and he was the youngest kid in Dowling Street, wondering where the times gone.

Beths Shoes

Morning had broken with breaky at Michelle's Patisserie with Trace and Beth. I couldn't resist asking Beth if I could take a pic of her shoes even though I had only met her 10 minutes previously. The outfit, shoes and specs were fantastic. I'm wondering if she got them from Cate Blanchette after she played Elizabeth as the look so beautifully medieval?

So went to training until lunch, then back over to the plaza, where a robbery had just occurred. There were piles of $100 and $50 notes scattered all over the floor covered in red stuff. I tried to take a photo of it, but got told to move on.

Ferocious Hounds

After a night of howling wind that put me a little on edge, I was confronted by two absolutely starving and ferocious dogs. Sophie and Jenny. They had been at the coast on the weekend living the high life, so no wonder they now turn up their noses at the chum bickies I served them.

This time of the year its always windy and people tell me its because the snow is melting on the mountains. I don't mind the day wind, its just a bit mournful at night.

I'm off to systems training tomorrow and meeting a couple of sheilas at Michelle's Patisserie for coffee before we start. I like meeting for breakfast best.

A nice warm pool awaits...

Taste Sensation

Last night I was treated to a Croatian delight by Doris and her Mum and Dad. We laughed so much and the food was so so flavourful. I even got a doggie bag to take home and its already been taken care of. Such good people who love making their own food and drink, including a Gataric special of Grappa and Chocolate Essence... mmmm!

Canberra Quilt Show

This is the winning quilt for 2007. I have to be honest here, I thought there were many better ones that should have won. This quilt has been hand painted and quilted by machine with little cockys all over. While the size of the quilts impressive, I thought the colours and brush strokes were very naive.

Tiles

Bitchin....I forgot to tell them that I wanted white bathroom tiles..

Heres Luck Update

"George bought a ready-made suit and put it on in the shop. The coat was so tight across the back that he had to breathe like an exhausted dog."

Another gem from chapter 19.

Post Interview Stress

The interview was a write off..... it all started when I had to do a 30 minute written exercise comparing 2 points of view and then write a brief for the minister, stating our position. First of all Brough would not have been able to decipher the writing, but that would have been a small inconvenience to him, if only the content actually made sense. I felt totally confident in getting the headings right and they were actually readable, which was a bonus.

I used my opening line and got the expected response, which was followed by a hug from the chairperson who is my director. As you know I am a person who needs direction in my life, especially when I am on the road... but .. then, I could feel the slow creep of heat radiating up my neck and onto my face, that made me feel as if I was back basking in the tropical heat of the build up in Katherine. Of course this did not go unnoticed by the panel members who, after a few minutes started fanning themselves and getting drinks of water. One guy actually suggested I take a short stroll. Kudjina!!! Shame job.

I felt like I had run about 10 km at the end of it all and I think the panel felt like they had been in a relay marathon where some one had dropped the batten and couldn't find it....

Enhancements

This is the sunset I saw on my way home. Its been digitally enhanced, just coz I can.

Tomorrow I have my interview and I hope I dont talk with too much forked tounge. I been tossing around a few icebrakers and Ive decided that when I walk in Im going to say to them, "Guys, do I have a DEAL for you!!!!"

Ripping down to the meditation course at St Thomas in 10 minutes to calm myself down a bit before I launch myself in to some preparation for questions they might ask.

Spotter

Sparks spots another Catholic over lunch in tuggers...

We had a great laugh and totally disregarded the disgruntled looks we were getting. We are still not sure what the table arrangements meant, maybe it was their way of saying "I can hear your mummy calling you".

Interview on Friday, which will sort me out so you might not get a regular update next weekend, as Ill be too lost for words.

Sock update

Getting to the exciting part of turning the heel now. I'm in danger of finding washing up more important as I head into uncharted waters, so to speak...

Here's Luck

"The twilight gave way to the night, the moon strolled out, fat-cheeked and fatherly, among the stars..." this line from chapter 12 from the book, is something Ill think of when I see the moon from now on.

I am so luvin this book. It is the funniest book I have ever read.

Dad lent it to me and I'm so glad he did. ISBN 0207 18207 8. Do yourself a favor!

Toe Toaster

Jen sitting in the sun toasting her toes. Shes totally board with this whole spring clean deal and so I am. Although in one way its liberating as well. Yeah, I probably peaked too soon, considering its not spring yet.

Fully Fledged Blogger

Much excitement in the camp last night when I noticed my blog was mentioned on another blog with unexpected and kind words.... thanks cobs, yes, it was a warming moment. No, it wasn't a hot flush!

Also took the heater out into the garage and not before time as it was making sparking noises and had brown marks on the plug.

All fired up now and started my spring cleaning. Its amazing how much junk you can accumulate in 3 years. When you think about it, it should be easy. Bring something through the door, take something out through the door, us humans love to hoard. Like who cares at the end of our lives, anyway most of the stuff gets dumped or sold...

Self Portrait

My arty farty self portrait which I took at the tuggers library this arvo. People kept giving me queer looks but when you get older you really don't care what other people think so much. Probably not a good combo for someone who is impulsive.
I went to work today with out my camera and felt out of sorts as I had the chance to snap some excellent Sirus clouds... oh well, next time. Come to think of it I never really got over the cloud chart the Milne girls were given by their father, back in the early 70s. I loved that chart and learnt all the names. Most the time we had Cumulus and Nimbo Cumulus, but in the dry we got to see Sirus and they were my favorites, specially first thing in the morning with the pinks and yellows of the sunrise. Speaking of Nimbo, I wonder what happened to Skimbo? The '74 art student of the year.
